Unit 10 - Christmas Card
The assignment was to produce 5 original christmas cards, using different materials that reflected on the theme. I decided to base my designs on reindeers in different aspects, but in each design I incorporated embossing powders. Therefore, the 5 cards looked like a set, yet they were there own designs. I kept my ideas simplistic, so that the cards were not over powering to look at.
Live Brief
The college was set a live brief to create monster beanbag designs, for the company called R U Comfy. I successful won the project, by combining different features together to produce a variety of ideas. As well as, for the designs to be easily pictured as a beanbag, I used bright and dark colours. Therefore, the designs incorporate a range of colours, of how the monsters can be produced into beanbags.

Unit 49 - Specialist Illustration
The aim of the brief was to create a hello and goodbye page, to introduce and end our portfolios. I based my designs on New York City and Venice however, I started my illustrations from back to front. By using New York City as my hello page, symbolizes that I have come out of my shell slowly over the years. Therefore, Venice is my goodbye page, representing that I was a quite person to begin with. The concept of my two designs have been revearsed, to show what I am like now to the past. As well as, to look as though I am standing in the centre of the two places. I used one of my favourite music artists, to show another characteristic about myself.
NCFE Construction Crafts
For this brief I had to pick a letter out of a hat at random, and produce a successful piece of packaging to represent the letter which included a bag, book and box. I brainstormed the letter 'W' and out of my options I chose a wedding them. However, rather than opting for a traditional wedding, I decided to choose a masquerade theme for my packaging. Therefore, my use of materials and colours were not limited, to a set colour scheme of white and black. For each piece of packaging, I used a bright colour to stand out the item, and a simplistic colour accompanying it so that it looked tasteful.
Unit 3 - Ideas and Concepts
I had to choose an author at random out of a hat. Luckily I was able to get Cormac McCarthy, with already knowing two of his books. I researched into three possible books that could be created into book jackets. Out of the books he had written I chose to pursue: The Road, No Country for Old Men and Child of God. I was able to use different aspects of the plot of the first two, so that the design reflects on the books. However, for my third book I looked back at my research and interpreted the plot, of what I thought were the main features of the books. To create my 3 designs I used photographs, so that the books look realistic, so that it sets the scene of the plot of the three books.
Unit 5 - Contextual Influences
The aim of this brief, was to write an article about an Art Movement between the 19th and 20th century. I researched between the two time periods, by looking into the artwork that were created for each movement. Out of the possible art movements, it was a choice between Pop Art and Impressionism, with the two having completely different styles. Overall, I decided to pursue Pop Art, with this period being more modern and the style of the artists were different, to the other movements between the 19th and 20th century.
Unit 39 -
The aim of this project was to create a typeface that had the characteristics of a character. I brainstormed a range of characters and chose 5 possible choices that could be pursued, to create into the alphabet. I decided to pursue the character Morph, with it not having many features the typeface would be simplistic. I based the style of the typeface on the appearance, by rounding the edges and using a similar terracotta colour. Therefore, it looks as though the features of Morph has created the alphabet.
